Office of Legal Affairs
The attorneys in the Office of Legal Affairs ("OLA") are all members of the University's Office of the General Counsel ("OGC") assigned as "resident counsel" to the UCSF campus. As such, OLA has a dual reporting relationship to the Chancellor of the UCSF campus and the General Counsel for the University, Charles Robinson. The General Counsel reports jointly to The Regents and the President. Only members of the Office of the General Counsel can represent The Regents and the University in legal matters.
In representing the University's interests, the attorneys in OLA provide advice, research, training and opinions to UCSF campus and medical center leadership on a wide variety of legal, policy and compliance issues. Because of its role in representing the University, OLA cannot provide personal legal advice to individual employees. However, OLA attorneys regularly assist UCSF managers and others acting on behalf of the University in analyzing legal and policy issues which arise in the context of their University responsibilities.
More information regarding the legal services provided by the Office of the General Counsel may be accessed at: www.ucop.edu/ogc/welcome.html
